Ms. Helsel began her aviation career at Daniel Webster College, where she completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Aviation Management.  She continued her collegiate education at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, where she received a Master’s of Aeronautical Science degree with specializations in Aerospace/Aviation Safety and Aerospace/Aviation Adult Education.  Ms. Helsel also obtained her Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Aircraft Dispatcher Certificate and additional FAA Flight Ratings.  The combination of collegiate coursework and practical operating certificates Ms. Helsel obtained through the course of her education has provided her with a solid knowledge base of aviation operations from multiple industry angles.

While working toward her Bachelor’s degree, Ms. Helsel was an intern in the Northwest Airlines Safety Department, where she specialized in the Flight Operational Quality Assurance (FOQA) program.  After her internship, she broadened her industry knowledge base by accepting safety and management positions with industry-leading Title 14, Code of Federal Regulations Part 91/91K and Part 135 Operators.  In the Aviation Operations field, Ms. Helsel was an aircraft dispatcher, aircraft scheduler, crew scheduler, and flight center manager.

Ms. Helsel continued her work in aviation safety through the development and certification of an Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP) for a leading fractional jet company.  Her role with the program included managing Event Review Committee Meetings, conducting data-mining and
fact-finding investigations, and overseeing the corrective action process.

Ms. Helsel gained vast experience in-flight operations working in both safety and management roles with commercial and general aviation operators.

At PAI Consulting, Ms. Helsel is responsible for extracting and analyzing data related to specific aviation safety topics.
